Slashdotted by Proxy

It's funny, I have not checked my logs in a couple days -- I just did and suddenly I've got a huge traffic spike, just huge, even bigger than when erosblog links to me.

I tracked it down -- it seems that traffic spikes run downhill; Brandon over at contemporaryinsanity.org just got slashdotted, and since I'm on his all-around cool people list, that slashdot effect has washed over onto me in the form of lots of hits, and lots of comment spam.

Funny how these things work.

Gotta wonder if anyone's actually reading though; if people don't comment, I never really know.

I know, I know...sigh. Without commentage, I feel as though I am blogging in a vacuum.

We need to get all famous and stuff, hon. We need to become entries in the urban dictionary or something. I'm so very ready for notoriety and infamy and better spelling skills.

Feliz ano and that kind of thing. XXXXX

Sorry :)

Normally you're in my blogroll, which people tend to ignore. But I was catching so much traffic, and yes, comment spammers, that I disabled everything even remotely dynamic about my site and went with good ole HTML. Then I figured I'd pop my blogroll in the bottom of that page. For some reason people like big blue links better. I'll ask Jakob Neilsen and see what he thinks, once he gets done preening and self-promoting.

Commentage will come; I often wonder how long it took TranceJen to build her audience. (And, I wonder if her policy of not selling out is better than my own policy of selling all the way out :) )

On the other hand, I paid my bandwidth bill and raised a tidy sum for a decent cause, so I guess I'm happy. :)

Hey, I wander over here every day. I read. I just don't always comment. Most of the time, I just say out loud, "Yeah, I'm with you, man." Sometimes I just laugh or say, "Hmmmmmmmmmmm..."

So there ya go.
