I cannot lie.
Mashups are fantastic -- the best ones almost function as musical critique. I think my favorite is "A Stroke of Genius" which combined the opening measures of some song by the Strokes, looped, with the vocal from "Genie in a bottle" by Christina Aguilera. It's a damn good song in it's own right, and by jettisoning all the keyboard and synth crap it really shows that Aguilera can sing her fuckin' ass off.

I wish I could find the mashup of the Spice Girls' "If you wanna be my lover" ("Tell me what you want, what you really really want...") with Nine Inch Nails' "Closer".
