At one of those Algonquin Round Table talks, Dorothy was asked to use the word "horticulture" in a sentence.

Her response?

"You can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think."

WOW I wrote this on my math book cover in high school... you seem to just be catching up with me. LOL

Guess the Canadian delay didn't hurt too badly after all.

Mrs Parker also commented:

If all the girls at Vassar were laid end to end… I shouldn’t be surprised.

I can personally attest to the voracity of Mrs Parkers comment, having once come over from Oxford to teach at Yale. A lot of Vassar girls seem to end-up there, and some are even admitted to study.

Im now at a school in northern california. The english department is dominated by angry old women who force feed their little female charges Sylvia Plath (someone who should have killed herself before ever trying to write, poor Ted Hughes) and the likes of Angila Davis, gawd, until recently. Reading Dorthy Parker would do the poor things a lot of good.
