I've got a three-hour exam. I'm going to embark upon it in a moment. I'm on this dumb, ridiculously slow Wal-Mart Dell because the Gateway had its hard drive replaced for the THIRD time in six months and although Gateway and DHL promised me it would be delivered back yesterday, it has not come back. Also, our modem arbitrarily shuts itself off at random and increasingly frequent intervals and that completely sucks. (Fran says I need to replace the modem; that they don't last too long and this one is going on two years... Anyone know anything about this?) Also, I bought a used phone off eBay last month to replace my cell that had mysteriously become wet and the replacement phone will not hold a charge, even without using it, the thing goes dead in like an hour and a half. Anyone have any used, Verizon-compatible cell phones? Or advice on why the dumb thing won't stay charged? Or advice on a different kind of used eBay phone I should get (this one's a razr)?
I'm all disgruntled. I'm afraid to start this exam because what if my freaking computer or modem go out on me? Crap. But the exam needs to be in by midnight tomorrow and there's no way my Gateway's coming back before Monday because DHL doesn't deliver on freaking weekends...
Crap. Now I'm all sitting here thinking no fridge/food poisoning might be better than no macbook... Crap I hate these piece-of-crap Dells and Gateways...
I'm very tense. A THREE HOUR EXAM.
I better go.

Best of luck on the exam. You'll do great!
Ooh! I can answer this one!
Things to look for in 'Failure to hold charge for specified time'
Does your phone indicate it's charging when you plug it in?
Do you have to hold your phone or charger a particular way to get it to say it's charging?
Have you been letting the battery drain completely before charging?
Have you been removing the phone from the charger as soon as it says it's charged completely?
(should be Yes/No/Yes/Yes)
Try charging your phone from a different power outlet.
Try charging your phone using a different charger.
Be aware the car charger is only designed to charge the battery 75%-90% of a full charge and is not to be used the same way as a wall charger.
If after all this your battery won't hold a charge more than 8 hours (assuming you talk/text on it) or more than 24 hours on standby (not used at all), try another battery.
If another battery doesn't work, you'll have to get a new phone.
But it's probably the battery.
Timed exams RARELY take the time. You'll do fine. DEEP BREATH.
Wow. You mean I shouldn't keep my cell on the charger after it's fully charged? How 'bout my laptop?
Laptops? Uhhh.... try here: http://www.pacificbattery.com/instructions.html or better yet here:

I don't have a laptop. But I talk to people all day long about charging cell phones o_0
