Update!

While PZ continues to receive graphic death threats over at Pharyngula, I myself am now being subjected to terrorism and abuse because of my choice to exercise my freedom of speech!!!

I know!!!

The horror!!!

Yesterday while I was in the throes of Appliance Anxiety at Sears, someone, some fascist, someone filled with hatred, bigotry and bias, tried to REMOVE MY OBAMA BUMPER STICKER FROM MY LITTLE CAR!!!

I know! I freaking know! Can you believe it? Someone tried to peel the thing right off my back window! Someone tried to trample my rights! Infringe upon my flipping freedom!

Fortunately, I saw this one coming. I mean, I have not lived here in Texas for SIXTEEN EFFING YEARS and learned nothing. I of course purchased TWO stickers from the Obama Store.

Of course... now I'm wondering... maybe two wasn't enough...???

Heh, that was pretty quick. Perhaps you should have bought a gross of them ;)

Hey Dave? Have you ever not tightened the gas cap enough on your VW and soon a little light comes on in your dash and you think your car is going to explode and you don't even quite know what the light means because it could apparently mean an infinite number of things, and so you call your dealership and your dealership is like a zillion miles away and they don't seem to be able to tell you anything other than "Come right in," and you're all upset and stuff and then you Google the issue and you realize it's a common thing and the result of not tightening the gas cap correctly and so you tighten the gas cap and in a while the light goes out and you're like, "Wow. Why couldn't the dealership had told me that?" Has this ever happened to you?

Uhmmm, no. I know for a fact that my car doesn't have ANY warning light for a non-tightened gas cap. I know this because I drove through the entire state of Virgina with my gas cap completely detached and bouncing along outside my car

If you're putting it in your back window anyway, why not use a teensy bit of glue and attach it to the window from the INSIDE of the car? Then it's impossible to remove without smashing the window. At which point, given that it's Texas, you're probably allowed to shoot whoever's doing it.

I can ABSOLUTELY draw chickens! If I were you, I'd put two Obama stickers, so after they peeled the first, the second would already be there. Then, use your magic marker and write "Ha ha! Conservative Know-it-all!" in the margin. :)~ You never left me a comment before, and I'm on the blogroll and everything! Sweet.

The dealer doesn't tell you about the gas cap because they can't say FOR SURE it's the gas cap until they put it on the scanner and it says "vacuum leak in the fuel system"... THEN they tell you to check the gas cap. Since it's not a warrantable issue (tightening a gas cap can be or is usually considered maintenance), they look forward to charging you the $100 consult fee.
They are correct, it *can* mean a million bad things, but usually it's the simplest. If you get a warning light, you can actually stop by AutoZone or Checker stores and have them read the light without clearing it. Then, if it's warrantable, you can take it to the dealer. But you have to tell them to NOT clear the error.
