Done, finished off with some blue knobs - though they don’t quite fit the posts so they’ll get replaced. I’m really not good at sound demos, and did not capture a ‘before,’ but I’ll try to get a good sound clip posted. It sounds infinitely better, with proper p90 snarl, and looks like a jr now. Still to do: upgrade the tuners and nut, but no hurry, I’ll do that when next I change the strings.

The stock bridge might be considered an upgrade from a classic 50’s wraparound, in that it’s a tune-O-matic style that can be properly intonated, but fuck it, it looks wrong, and like everything else about these H-B guitars, it’s serviceable but cheap. Replaced with a beautiful, hefty compensated bridge (in aged finish) from @music_city_bridge. Add some @curtmanganstrings from @that_pedal_show (“Dan Here” 11-52 set, thx @danielthegigrig ) and it’s ready to go.

Old pickup out. I had to dremel out some space for the new pup, it’s just a little bigger, and then fill in the notches to get the new pup to sit at surface level. No pic of that surgery, forgot to take any. The jack had to go, also - it was crap. Replaced with a good CTS courtesy of @keith_holland_guitars (and thx to Jaxon for the free wire scraps.)

Harley-Benton DC-Junior upgrade project. I went with the most period-correct pickup I could find, from @throbak_electronics (P90 - DE MXV P90), and a 50’s wiring harness. Before shots of the wiring - CHEAP, really cheap, but what do you expect from a guitar that cost two bills.

A couple years ago during pandemic, I was looking for a good, affordable Les Paul jr double cut. The vintage ones are stupid expensive, and at the time, nobody had what I wanted at the right price. So I figured I’d pick up a cheap-o and make an upgrade project out of it. This is a Harley-Benton DC-Junior LTD, which cost a couple hundred (and with a coupon I got the shipping free.) I never got around to doing the upgrades, but finally have done so; I’ll post before and after shots here. I neglected to get a before shot of the pickup and bridge, so to start, this is grabbed from the harleybenton site. In process pix to come.
