James Brown is dead at 73 – leaving the world a whole hell of a lot less funky on this christmas day.
I wish I could post one of the tracks from the James Brown christmas album, about which I had a very strange conversation just the other day. Of course, I can’t find it right now.
This is a sad day. God knows we all needs a lot more of the funk any day of the year.

I was listening to the radio and heard that he was only hospitalized for pneumonia and, an hour or two later, they said he’s kickin’ up some Uh huh, hey! on the other side.
Well, the “Hardest Working Man In Show Business” needs his sleep, too.
Sleep well, James. You deserve the rest.
A sad day indeed.
The world can never be poorer, the hardest working performer in America left too great a legacy, including the thought that a young Jimi Hendrix once played in his back-up band. That’s worth a few hours of funky thought.
