It’s one of those songs that just makes me happy.
Flavor of the Month, by the Posies.
Play It. But don’t even bother if you can’t crank it way the hell up.
Wow, that’s VERY similiar to Matthew Sweet’s “I’ve Been Waiting,” which is a favorite of mine.
I’m new to your blog. I must say – where have you been all my life?
Syl-
Can you hear it? -does the sound remind you?
Can you feel it? -its gonna redefine you
It’s actually rather a play on that idea. The song’s full of hooks that sound like something else, and it’s meant to. My first listen I was all, that’s catchy, but I feel like I’ve heard it someplace. But then with a second closer listen I realized it was in effect almost a send-up of hook-driven pop hits of the era.
The cool thing is that for all this, it winds up being a really good song.
The album starts out brilliantly, but fizzles a bit in the later tracks. Still, I play it regularly. The first five or six tracks are so are incredibly strong. Alas, I never really got into any of the Posies other albums. They were so good at big-guitar pop, but I don’t think they really felt this album was them.
Wow…lol…loved this song…is it busy melting in your mouth?
