This is a truly beautiful rant. It’s long-ish but worth listening to every second (after teh cut so save having to load it every time you hit this page) (Thanks to Chelsea for forwarding that to me)

Olbermann always does righteous anger well.
I agree emphatically with him on everything– except part of his concluding comments about McCain’s responsibility for Limbaugh’s comments about Colin Powell.
While Olbermann’s call to responsibility is entirely valid for the first two examples he gives–which relate directly to people who are actually part of the McCain campaign team–Limbaugh is a different case. I agree with Olbermann’s point that Limbaugh’s comments were racist, limited, stupid and insulting, and that Powell deserves an apology. But I don’t think it’s appropriate to call on McCain for that apology, or to insinuate he can or should control or take responsibility for Limbaugh–or that Limbaugh in some way represents McCain. Limbaugh is a media figure with a strong political bias, no different than Olbermann himself–he just has different politics and opinions (however stupid).
If, for example, Olbermann says something about Sarah Palin that many might view as sexist, is it Obama’s responsibility to step in and reprimand Olbermann? No; that would just seem really wierd. Olbermann’s just some news guy. And even further, if, as Olbermann is suggesting McCain should do, Obama were to try to suppress what Olbermann could say in order to help further his campaign goals, it would not only be unethical but would violate the First Amendment. Well, it’s the same in reverse for McCain/Limbaugh.
Unless Olbermann has proof McCain *staffers* are publicly saying racist things against Powell, then Olbermann may have something to hold against Limbaugh, but he has nothing to hold against McCain. McCain’s actual response to Powell’s endorsement of Obama was measured and not insulting or insinuating.
So he can demand an apology from Limbaugh for that one. He won’t get it of course, but that’s who needs to be responsible for that one example he’s talking about.
Sweet.
You know Dea, anyone slinging crap Limbaugh’s way is ok with me. He’s a scumbag and a liar, and worse, people believe him.
So I don’t care if I agree with the particulars of what Olbermann says; in spirit, I’m right there with him.
This doesn’t have anything to do with the post, but someone sent me this link today, and I thought, “Skull Rings! Geeky Skull Rings! Must post in comment on Moronosphere!”

The guy gives great rant.
I’m pretty sure I’ve sublimated my sex drive into an avid appreciation of Olbermann rant. I watched the video the other day and it made me… what’s that word? “HAPPY.”
